چکیده
ed for this study. The WISC is a standardized test of assessment designed for children age seven to 16. It is divided into fifteen subtests that form a total of five composite scores, including a FSIQ which represents overall cognitive ability, VCI, PRI, PSI and WMI. Reliability coefficients for the WISC-IV composite scales were obtained on a sample of 661 children from 16 special and clinical groups. Ranging from .88 (Processing Speed) to .97 (Full Scale), the coefficients are identical to or slightly better than corresponding composite scales in the WISCIII (Williams, Weiss, & Rolfhus, 2003). Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPSSI; Wechsler, 2002). The Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPSSI) is an intelligence test designed for children ages 2 years 6 months to 7 years 3 months. It consists of 14 subtest that comprise the

The Determiners of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Surgery Outcome in a Developing Country
Background: Epilepsy surgery has become a successful treatment option for patients with drug-resistant epilepsies. Objectives: This study aimed to assess temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) surgery outcome and its association with epilepsy duration, the presence of pre-surgical generalized tonic-clonic seizure (GTCS), and brain MRI findings. Materials & Methods: This retrospective study was perfo...

The aim of the present study is to compare pre- and postsurgical neuropsychological outcome in individuals suffering from mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE), in order to evaluate prognosis. The selected thirty-five patients had medically mTLE and had undergone an anterior temporal lobectomy (ATL). Neuropsychological evaluation was performed in three different stages: before ATL, 6 months afte...

Objective. To report our institutional seizure and neuropsychological outcomes for a series of patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE) undergoing anterior temporal lobectomy (ATL) or selective amygdalohippocampectomy (SelAH) between 2004 and 2011. Methods. A retrospective study of patients with mTLE was conducted. Seizure outcome was reported using time-to-event analysis. Cognitive o...

PURPOSE Acute post-operative seizures (APOS) after epilepsy surgery, previously believed to be benign, are increasingly associated with poor long-term prognosis. Prior literature has focused primarily on adult temporal lobe epilepsy. This retrospective study aimed to identify the prevalence, prognostic significance and risk factors for APOS in pediatric epilepsy surgery at a single center. ME...
متن کاملPre-surgical evaluation for epilepsy surgery.
Neuropsychological testing may reflect subtle structural changes that may not be readily apparent with neuroimaging studies, and physiologic disruption of normal neural function secondary to epileptic activity. Neuropsychological testing is used during the pre-operative evaluation for epilepsy surgery to assess functional brain status, which, in turn, provides important information on the risks...

Surgery has proven quite effective in patients with pharmacoresistant temporal lobe epilepsies (TLE). Unilateral hippocampal sclerosis, in particular, is associated with positive seizure control following surgery. However, surgical relief from epileptic seizure activity may come at the expense of neuropsychological deficits. Thus, during the evaluation of patients being considered for epilepsy ...
